What is Internal Linking ? How Internal Links are Important for Your Website to Get Higher Rankings in Search Engines ?

Internal Linking: Internal Linking is the part of SEO On Page Optimization and It may be defined as links pointing to other page or pages of same website. The internal linking is very important for getting higher rankings in search engines. Always try to give good internal linking by choosing better keywords so that it will helpful for your user.

To understand, this concept I am taking the following example.

Lets say, I have the following content

In this example, I made the three internal links (I make hyperlink on three keywords) On Page Optimization, Off Page Optimization and What is SEO ? and which are pointing to other pages of my website and whenever any one click on these links only my website link related to these keywords will be open. These three links are acting as internal links for my website.

How Internal Linking is Importnat to Get Higher Rankings in Search Engines ?

Search Engines, specially Google is giving very much important to backlinks and giving value to internal linking. So, it will be beneficial for your website, If you will give more internal links. Check the following example.

You may notice Wikipedia is coming higher on search engine result pages for any type of query. One of the reason for coming at first position of Wikipedia in Google SERP is that Wikipedia has very strong internal linking.

So try to make useful Internal Linking for your website or blog.
